DIVERSITY IN LIBRARY SERVICES RESOURCES

Sejong Academy partnered with Masters of Library and Information Science students from St. Catherine University to offer the following resources:

Session 1: Grant Writing and Funding for Your Library

Did you ever wonder how to get funding for more diversity training programs in your library? Or perhaps some extra money for another ESL class or storytime in Spanish? If so, this will help you understand the ins and outs of funding and give some useful resources for grant writing and financial assistance.

Session 2: Diversity in Collection Development

Strategies on collection diversity. Touches on self-published authors, diversity in children's literature and highlights challenges and solutions for this topic.

Session 3: Creating and Retaining a Diverse Workforce

Review and discuss companies that have a working diversity plan for their company. Look at data about the librarian population and strategize plans for implementation into your own library.

Session 4: A Multilingual Approach to Diversity in the Library

Focus on what it means to have linguistic and cultural barriers to library usage and how libraries can work with patrons and communities to bring more people to the library.
